A Life-Changing Incident and the Birth of the Im’Perfect Project Two years ago, I was severely burnt. I have now recovered perfectly, but the scar on my back will forever be a reminder of the incident. The Im’Perfect project was first thought of when I was recovering from my scar both physically and mentally. This project was inspired by doing art as a way of healing, since it is what helped me feel more confident about myself and my body.
Rediscovering the Project Through Personal Growth The Im’Perfect photoshoot was brought up again later when I had matured and gone to an internship at a local hospital treating scars. That internship, along with my story, has motivated me to help others feel empowered about themselves and their scars.
Wabi Sabi and the Beauty in Imperfections Paired with each model is the classical art of Japanese Wabi Sabi, which alone serves as a strong symbol of acceptance to the world and its imperfections. As a whole, every part of the Im’Perfect project aims to show the hidden beauty in imperfections.
